Starts fringe benefit accumulation at prorated basis as of date of change in status. However, if the Nurse previously had been a Regular full-time or Regular part-time Nurse with no break in service, the Nurse retains for fringe benefit accumulations the same date the Nurse had when a Regular full- time or Regular part-time Nurse, adjusted forward for the length of time in Short-Hour, Temporary and Per diem status. The Nurse also in such cases retains any unused sick leave and Education Leave accumulated while in Regular full-time or Regular part-time status. Orientation for floating purposes only: 6. Nurses subject to floating will be thoroughly oriented into the designated float unit by a designated Staff Nurse Orienteer prior to taking a patient assignment. The Staff Nurse Orienteer will not have a patient assignment during orientation. If needed, Nurses will be provided up to 8 hours of orientation to the paired float unit, if necessary, with the exception of ICU to CMU, ICU nurses will be provided up to 4 hours of orientation. Orientation is defined as those elements contained in the normal orientation of Nurses new to the unit and is not intended to include clinical competence training. Nurses performing work on split shifts shall be paid a premium equal to the minimum hourly wage set forth in the applicable Industrial Welfare Commission Order per day in addition to their regular rate of pay. A split shift is defined as a work day schedule which is interrupted by non-paid, non-working periods established by the Employer other than bona fide rest or meal periods. In addition, any split shift work completed beyond a spread of eleven (11) consecutive hours shall be paid at time and one-half (1 1/2) for all hours worked beyond the eleven (11) hour spread.

Registered Nurses who relieve in higher classifications shall receive additional compensation of five percent (5%) above current pay rate to commence the first day of relief work. Payment for relief in higher classification shall be made for four (4) or more hours worked on each shift. Any RN/NP who is assigned to perform team leader, shift leader, resource nurse (excluding No Cancellation Resource RN) duties, or is otherwise acting in a lead capacity shall receive relief in higher classification pay for all hours worked in such assignment.
